The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 win in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, Toronto, our country," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, ranking him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I want up in that situation except for him with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their work in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he continued.

The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
