People have come together throughout the country to commemorate 24 months since the Hamas-conducted offensive on October 7th, 2023, as negotiations advanced in Egypt over an end to the conflict in Gaza.

The incident resulted in more than 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others taken away to Gaza as prisoners. It was the single deadliest day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel responded by launching a armed campaign in Gaza which has taken over 67,000 people, based on figures from the region's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its figures are regarded as trustworthy by the UN and other world agencies.

"The violent enemies have caused great damage, but they have not overcome us," the leader remarked on that day.

He also promised to "realize all the aims of the war: the release of all the abducted, the destruction of the Hamas regime and the guarantee that Gaza will never again present a risk to Israel".

Commemorative Gatherings Across Israel

The government authorities postponed state commemorations until mid-October - after the conclusion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but gatherings still were held throughout the country on that day.

A remembrance service for the loved ones of people who died in the Hamas assault was held in Tel Aviv. Organized by the affected families, it was broadcast on Israeli TV networks.

Some time earlier, a minute's silence was observed throughout the country.

Negotiation Talks in Egypt

At the same time, Israeli and Hamas delegations met in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of the Egyptian city for a continuing round of third-party negotiations to discuss the terms of the plan.

A high-ranking representative involved in the talks revealed that an late session of indirect talks commenced at 19:00 Cairo time.

The source said the day's discussions concluded without concrete outcomes, due to disagreements over the proposed Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas demands to ensure Israel does not restart fighting after the first phase of the agreement.

He added that the talks are "difficult and have still not deliver any real breakthrough," but noted that intermediaries are working hard to reduce the gaps between the conflicting groups.

Essential Points in Talks

  • An enduring halt to fighting
  • The exchange of the hostages still kept by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The removal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Measures for assistance distribution
  • After-conflict management of the territory

Civilian Sentiment

In the city's memorial area previously, young Hagar - whose family member lived through the incident on the Nova music festival, where 378 people were murdered and dozens more were taken hostage by Hamas fighters - shared: "No place seems like home anymore and until each abducted person come back no one will be secure."

"Once we see everyone home again, we can relax again. Then we can start to recover," she concluded.

In front of the leader's official dwelling in Jerusalem, people congregated to demonstrate their solidarity for the loved ones of the abducted. Israel states forty-eight remain in captivity in Gaza, twenty of whom are considered to be living.

Protester a participant remarked: "We must do whatever arrangement required for the hostages to return. But we truly desire promises that we will be secure."

Research now consistently show that approximately the majority of Israeli citizens want the war to end in as payment for the liberation of the abducted.

Gaza Situation

At the area of the gathering, mourners gathered to pay their respects.

From there, the sound of Israeli air strikes and shelling could be detected just a short distance away in Gaza, where witnesses indicated the heavy Israeli shelling continued.

In Gaza City, bombardments were reported in the morning of that day in the western neighborhood, area and zone neighbourhoods and in the east side neighbourhood of Sheikh Radwan, as well the settlement to the northwestern area.

"As the night arrives, the anxiety arrives with it," relocated Gaza City resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose teenage son was killed by an Israeli air strike earlier, described.

"We are afraid of the bombings. All the night we are lying together, embracing, especially my little child who rests his head on me throughout the night."

"Continuously we check the news to see developments. And I'm worried that this halt will not be completed and that the war will come back to us."

Medical Crisis

The medical facility in Gaza City announced it had taken in the bodies of six people by the afternoon, including three killed in an Israeli bombing in the southern district.

Nasser hospital in the south region of that area reported two more dead people had been transported. A person was killed by Israeli forces while attempting to get help to the southern area, medical staff said.

The region's health ministry announced a significant number of the {territ
